Urban Edge Guidelines

- Conduct a baseline review or survey of current cleaning products and practices in your project.
- Develop an integrated pest management approach that promotes cleaning and maintenance procedures that reduces the use of toxic pesticides
- Develop training for property management and custodial staff that includes information on product use as well as environmental safety and health requirements.
- Keep Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information on file and available for review by custodial staff.
- Provide ongoing communications with residents, staff, and other users about new products or procedures.
- Select cleaning products that meet Green Seal standards and/or those used by the State of Massachusetts’ EPP program, when possible.
