Housing & Commercial

“After completing the first time homebuyer’s seminar earlier this year, I closed on the purchase of a one bedroom condo. Purchasing a home has been a dream-come-true for me. I am thankful to the Urban Edge staff who were thoroughly professional and extremely helpful in guiding me through this process. The work Urban Edge does is truly wonderful.”

As part of a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy, Urban Edge helps first-time homebuyers realize their dreams. As families purchase their first homes, they take a significant step towards building social and economic equity in our community. In addition to offering programs designed to address the most frequent barriers to homeownership, Urban Edge is committed to developing quality, affordable homeownership housing for families with modest incomes.

Urban Edge has assisted over 1,600 families through our First Time Homebuyers Workshops, with over 500 successful homebuyers. In the past year alone, we have trained over 1 first time homebuyers. 153 of these families have gone on to purchase their first home, while fifteen other families purchased, or are in the process of purchasing, homes through the Section 8-to-Homeownership program.

While purchasing a home can itself be an exhaustive process, acquiring and managing financial resources is an even greater challenge for some potential homebuyers. Urban Edge offers several programs designed to address the most frequent barriers to homeownership. Through our courses, participants gain access to local industry professionals who can provide assistance in securing the resources necessary to purchase their first home
