Egleston Center

The 30,000 square foot parcel at the corner of Washington Street and Columbus Avenue was an active Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) station for over half a century before being abandoned during the Orange Line relocation in 1987.  In the early 1990ís, Urban Edge, other community organizations, and the City participated in a two-year master planning process for the site.  In 1997, Urban Edge completed a one-story 6,700 square foot commercial space with storefronts along the street and parking located at the rear providing retail and business services to Egleston Square and jobs for neighborhood residents.
