Holtzer Park, located at 137 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain, will provide 62 units of new construction rental housing, which will be affordable to households earning up to 30%, 50%, and 60% of Area Median Income. The project will lease undeveloped land from the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) as part of a master plan redevelopment at 125 Amory Street undertaken by Amory Street Partners. A collaboration among The Community Builders, Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation, and Urban Edge, the master plan redevelopment will rehabilitate the existing public housing building, which contains 199 units; add up to 12 affordable units to the existing building; build approximately 349 units of mixed-income new construction; and improve the site with new roadways and open space.
Holtzer Park will be constructed on an approximately 53,000 square foot portion of the site, currently containing surface parking. The building will include indoor bike storage, laundry facilities, and a community room, and the site will offer surface parking and a landscaped children’s play area. Due to grade changes, the portion of the building fronting onto Amory Street will have four stories, while the portion of the building in the rear of the site will have five stories. Urban Edge is the sole sponsor and developer of Holtzer Park, which will be financed and constructed independently from the other 125 Amory Street master plan components.
Construction on Holtzer Park is scheduled to begin in Summer 2020. Applications will be available several months before construction completion and are not available at this time.
