Meet FEAHD Fellow Jeremie Maurice

Urban Edge is thrilled to welcome Jeremie Maurice, our new Associate Real Estate Project Manager, who joined the team this fall through the Fellowship for Equitable Affordable Housing Development (FEAHD).

FEAHD is a two-year paid fellowship designed to cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders in affordable housing real estate. Founded in 2023 through a partnership between Urban Edge, The Neighborhood Developers, and OppCo, the program provides early-career professionals from historically underrepresented backgrounds with on-the-job training at Community Development Corporations (CDCs) across Massachusetts. Fellows gain hands-on experience as Associate Project Managers, supported by mentorship, peer learning, and monthly professional development sessions.

Jeremie was selected from a competitive pool of more than 70 applicants for the 2025–2027 cohort. He first learned about the fellowship through LinkedIn while searching for ways to build a career in real estate development that could make a difference in people’s lives. A recent graduate of the University of Maine, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Jeremie brings both curiosity and heart to his work.

Jeremie’s inspiration for pursuing a career in housing began early. Growing up in New Jersey, he witnessed how his father, an immigrant from Haiti, built his own small portfolio of properties in an urban area. “There are baby pictures of me helping my dad fix things,” he laughs. “I saw how housing changed lives – people saw my dad as a hero for helping them find a good place to live. That really stuck with me.”

Now, through the FEAHD Fellowship, Jeremie is turning that lifelong inspiration into a profession. He’s already immersed in his work at Urban Edge which will be balanced with participating in FEAHD’s ongoing training sessions, where fellows connect through site tours, classes, and skill-building exercises. “It’s great to be a part of a cohort of people in the same field who are all starting out and learning together,” he says.

Urban Edge has a strong track record of mentoring emerging leaders in affordable housing. Over the past six years, we’ve hosted five fellows through the highly regarded Kuehn Fellowship Program, three of whom have become permanent staff at Urban Edge. We’re excited to continue that tradition by welcoming Jeremie as he launches his career through the FEAHD Fellowship.
